About UPtown Kitchens
Learn About Our Company and Staff
David Ervin and Mary Ervin Holterhoff are a brother-sister team and love what they accomplish in designing kitchens. David is also owner of Clifton Homes, Inc., a General Contractor of 21 years in the Langhorne, Pennsylvania area. UPtown is a result of the many demands on Clifton Homes, Inc. for new kitchens and kitchen remodels. Their philosophy is simple, they stand behind their workmanship and the products they sell.

Rich Maid Kabinetry recognizes the importance of creating a balance between serving customer needs, protecting and conserving natural resources, preventing pollution, and supporting environmental sustainability. The Environmental Stewardship Program (ESP) sets forth a commitment to support excellence in environmental practices. Designed to increase the efficiency of wood use and minimize its waste, the ESP also gives preference to the procurement of wood products from certified, well-managed forests and to maintain their manufacturing facilities to exceed Federal and State EPA environmental regulations concerning emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and hazardous airborne pollutants (HAPs). By continuously improving the processes, systems and capabilities, the impact of pollution, waste and resource consumption at all levels within the Company is reduced, thereby gaining approval and certification as a “Green” Company.
The Realities of Wood and Wood Finishes
Wood cabinetry is constructed using many pieces of solid wood. Graining differences, as well as normal color change, can be expected. Wood species in all finishes will exhibit color change when exposed to different types of light. Natural color differences in wood are caused by variations in minerals found in the soil in which the tree was grown and the absorption of these minerals will differ by tree or parts of a tree. Therefore, each piece of wood absorbs the stain color differently, so these natural occurrences are to be expected in door and drawer fronts. Additionally, every wood species exhibits other characteristics including: knots, pinholes, sap runs and darkening with age. It is the beauty and nature of wood to have these characteristics, as well as natural variations in graining and color which will be present throughout any wood cabinetry.
