About UPtown Kitchens
David Ervin and Mary Ervin Holterhoff are a brother-sister team and love what they accomplish in designing kitchens. David is also owner of Clifton Homes, Inc., a General Contractor of 18 years in the Langhorne, Pennsylvania area. UPtown is a result of the many demands on Clifton Homes, Inc. for new kitchens and kitchen remodels. Their philosophy is simple; they stand behind their workmanship and the products they sell.
Each member of the team brings an important perspective and talent. They enjoy people and are patient through the kitchen design process, which, from customer feedback, most frequently plays a role in their decision to work with Dave and Mary.
Mary has always enjoyed interior design and has a knack for detailing projects. The tediousness of kitchen planning is a process she methodically works through, each step of the way, with her customers. Her strength is her ability to find the unique for each customer, and her constant reassuring manner. UPtown understands the enormity of the design process and especially the sizeable financial investment involved in a kitchen plan when it involves room expansion and new appliances in the home.
Seven years ago, Mary moved to Langhorne from Dallas, Texas, at the suggestion of Dave and his wife, Lydia, with the plan of opening a kitchen design showroom. So, being trained by David in the kitchen business has allowed her to learn first-hand the depth of the entire process.
Mary raised her two children in Texas, and she is now a first-time grandmother. Her favorite pastime is playing Bridge and scouring antique shops.
Dave holds a Master’s Degree in Industrial Arts Education and probably Math, Mary says, because he is so good at it! He has worked for Ryland Homes in Cincinnati, Ohio after some years of teaching. He moved to Pennsylvania for Toll Brothers in 1987 with responsibilities for Plant Management and Architectural and Engineering Department Services. Dave is a Navy veteran, for which he has some pretty funny stories! His children attended Neshaminy High School where they participated in sports, and Dave still supports and attends sporting events.
Dave has three children, and he and Lydia have recently become empty nesters. They are active in their children’s lives, and enjoy their many long-time friendships. Dave is active in the Langhorne Men’s Club. They are members of the Church of Saint Andrew, Newtown, Pennsylvania.
Clifton Homes, Inc. is Dave’s General Contractor business; with a strong customer base and so many of those customers are what he refers to as his “frequent flyers”. The majority of his business is referral, and that is what he is most proud of from his years as General Contractor.
